Zettle, formerly iZettle, is a payments processing company founded in 2010 and based in Sweden. Today, Zettle is owned by PayPal and provides many PayPal features and integrations. Zettle CEO Jacob de Geer recently said that the company is different to Square as it operates in separate regions. “We’re very European-focused. We are in totally different markets compared to Square… we are quite a different company,” he told CNBC in a TV interview last year. Their recent partnership with PayPal may set them up as a legitimate Square competitor.
