BreachIQ by Sontiq (formerly Breach Clarity)
CU 2.0 sponsor
On March 9, 2021, Sontiq bought Breach Clarity. Breach Clarity will change its name to BreachIQ, and they will power Sontiq’s other products: IdentityForce, Cyberscout, and EZShield.
Breach Clarity was founded by Jim Van Dyke and Al Pascual, two long-time researchers and experts specializing in fraud and financial crimes. After leaving Javelin Research, where they served as CEO and Head of Fraud and Security respectively, they focused on creating a tool to help people prevent fraud rather than recover from it.
Their proprietary algorithm deeply analyzes and assigns every publicly-reported data breach a BreachIQ Score, most-often from 1 to 10. The higher the score, the more severe. (In rare and extreme cases, the score can exceed 10.) Think of it as a “Richter Scale” for data breaches.
BreachIQ improves the financial health and risk of both members and financial institutions by analyzing each consumer’s data breach history to predict consumer-specific risks. Then, they provide custom action recommendations that reduce costs and strengthens digital relationships.
Their product can be integrated into digital banking platforms, providing consumer-facing guidance that improves financial wellness and safety. BreachIQ provides a fraud- and education-based digital utility that easily rivals free credit monitoring and scoring for personal financial health. However, because reducing consumer fraud drastically reduces institutional fraud losses, BreachIQ offers a better long-term ROI than credit products.
